HYPOCHONDRIA
This woman from ancient Alexandria
Was rumored to have Hypochondria;
To doctors who denied she was ill,
She bore a lot of ill will- even threatened to kill.
So the doctors held a conference
And decided to treat her, in deference;
Agreeing all together in unanimity,
That otherwise it would affect their equanimity.
So they gave her many
a pill
To her heart’s fill;
And kept her reassured
That she would soon be cured.
Thus the woman walked off satisfied
That her doubts had been ratified;
And that the docs accepted in meekness,
That she indeed suffered from unwellness.
But the docs, they kept crossed their fingers,
Knowing well the mania still lingers;
And that they could relax only till
She had swallowed her last pill.
